The dissolved air flotation (DAF) process is an efficient and fast method for separating solid particles from water and wastewater.
Working principle:
The treated wastewater circulates into the dissolved air tank, where the air is supersaturated and dissolved under pressurized air. It is then mixed with the raw water added with flocculant at the inlet of the air flotation tank. Due to the decrease in pressure, the supersaturated air is released, forming small bubbles that quickly attach to the suspended solids and lift them to the surface of the air flotation tank. Thus, a sludge floating layer is formed that is easy to remove, and heavier solid substances settle at the bottom of the tank and are also removed.
Applicable scope:
Suitable for purifying wastewater with high chromaticity, low dissolved oxygen, and high organic impurities. It is particularly effective for purifying wastewater with low water temperature and unsuitable for gravity sedimentation. This process is suitable for the treatment of industrial wastewater and production water after production, such as printing and dyeing, electroplating, tanning, papermaking, chemical industry, textile, meat processing, oil refining, canned food, etc. It is also suitable for the separation of biological sludge film and water in biological treatment.
Process flow:
Process characteristics:
1. Under pressurized conditions, the solubility of air is high, and the number of bubbles used for air flotation is large, which can ensure the effectiveness of air flotation;
2. The dissolved gas is suddenly depressurized and released, resulting in bubbles that are not only fine, uniform in size, highly dense, but also stable in floatation, with minimal disturbance to the liquid. Therefore, they are particularly suitable for solid-liquid separation of loose flocs and small particles;
3. The process and equipment are relatively simple, easy to manage and maintain; Especially for the partial reflux type, the treatment effect is significant, stable, and can greatly save energy consumption.
It is widely used in various industries, including printing and dyeing, chemical industry, papermaking industry, and food industry.
