The flow sand filter is short for the moving bed upstream continuous filter. Compared to conventional fixed bed filters, sand filters run continuously without the need for downtime and re-washing. When filtering, raw water is supplied by a high water tank, and then entered by the bottom ring water distribution pipe of the sand filter, and evenly enters the filter bed by the internal tapered drainage channel, the water flows upward and is in full and uniform contact with the filter material, the suspension of the raw water is intercepted on the filter bed, and the water is discharged by the top drainage. While filtering, quartz sand, which retains contaminants, is cleaned by a sand washing device (three-phase separator) that is raised to the top by the air lift at the bottom. The sand lift is powered by compressed air at pressures of0.5to 0.7MPa. The pollutants trapped by the sand are eluted due to the intense friction of water, sand and compressed air in the sand lifting tube. The washed sand is returned to the filter bed from top to bottom due to gravity in the sand washing machine, and the sand washing water is discharged through a separate line to complete the entire continuous cycle of sand washing and filtration.
